A Week In Our Dreamland!

Over the last few decades, the Methow Valley has earned a reputation as a recreational utopia of sorts, with its endless trails, stunning beauty, old-west charm and a "neighbourhood" of boundless wilderness...The Methow essentially becomes an island when Hwy 20 closes for the winter, and when the tide of winter creeps down the hillsides each year, a remarkable little corner of the state comes to life. So what drew us to make the Methow pilgrimage this year? Well, two things.

World Class Skiing
The Methow Valley cross country ski trail system, considered the largest winter trail system in North America, offers over 120 miles of cross-country ski terrain, all connected by the Methow Community Trail that runs from Winthrop to Mazama. As most of you know I love cross country skiing. It's what we did back home all winter long  since I was 5 years old. But it was nothing like the Methow  perfectly manicured corduroy lanes for skating and cleanly cut tracks for striding.
We rented skies for two days and hit flat valley-bottom trails for the pure enjoyment of it. Eli tried for the first time and he did great. Sofia enjoyed the views and the sunshine from a trailer. A great workout for mom at 22 weeks of pregnancy!;-)

Vitamin D
The Methow Valley, located in the rain-shadow of the North Cascades, is the land of sun - over 300 days of it each year!!!
It's a clear YES! for sun-starved west-siders like us!

We rented a cute little cabin in Mazama very close to ski trails. It was a lovely place! Check out the cabin at http://www.centralreservations.net/lodging/solstice?search_id=333960

We also rented snowshoes and did a couple of short but steep hikes. It was 9 degrees outside so we needed some good work out to keep us worm.

We praise the Lord for this wonderful family time. We were so blessed to be able to spend this time together in fellowship with each other and with our children. Our most important personal concern has always been our children. We so cherish every moment we can spend together as a family and tie strings!

Enjoy the pics!

Na vychod od pohori North Cascade ve stredni casti Washingtonu se nachazi udoli zvane Methow Valley. Udoli plne turistickych tras a krasne prirody. Kdyz se v zime uzavre dalnice 20, ktera tudy vede, stane se udoli ostrovem, ktery se naplnim zimnimi radovankami. A co presne prilakalo nas do Metthow Valley tento rok? V podstate dve veci.

Proslule bezkarske trate a slunicko! Udoli se muze pochlubit dokonale upravovanymi bezkarskymi trasami - pres 200 km! Slunicko tady sviti 300 dni v roce!

Pronajali jsme si maly srub primo v centru deni a dva dny bezkovali. Elijasek to zkusil poprve a moc se mu to libilo. Sofinku jsme tahali za sebou. Moc se nam to vsem libilo. Treti den jsme si pronajali sneznice a vyrazili na dve kratke, ale narocne vystupy, abychom se trochu zahrali - teplota klesla pod bod mrazu. Deti si uzily snehu!

A lovely kitchen met all are cooking needs.
