A Week In Our Dreamland!

Over the last few decades, the Methow Valley has earned a reputation as a recreational utopia of sorts, with its endless trails, stunning beauty, old-west charm and a "neighbourhood" of boundless wilderness...The Methow essentially becomes an island when Hwy 20 closes for the winter, and when the tide of winter creeps down the hillsides each year, a remarkable little corner of the state comes to life. So what drew us to make the Methow pilgrimage this year? Well, two things. World Class Skiing The Methow Valley cross country ski trail system, considered the largest winter trail system in North America, offers over 120 miles of cross-country ski terrain, all connected by the Methow Community Trail that runs from Winthrop to Mazama. As most of you know I love cross country skiing. It's what we did back home all winter long  since I was 5 years old. But it was nothing like the Methow  perfectly manicured corduroy lanes for skating and cleanly cut tracks for striding. We

We celebrated Tim's Bday with a fancy dinner at Chamber restaurant in Vancouver.  Their philosophy is based on a commitment to fresh, innovate and incredible food that is presented without pretension. The result is a restaurant with exquisite cuisine,  an exceptional service, and a room that glows. Yes, indeed! It was our third time there!  Oslava Timovych narozenin se konala v nobl restauraci ve Vencouveru.    I had     Canard et chevre  Roasted duck breast, goat cheese&tarragon gnocchi, sauteed scallions, hazelnut gastrique. Fall fun

We have been having a really nice fall. We got our garden ready for the winter, planted 7 different kinds of garlic, played in leaves and enjoyed many sunny days on long walks.   We spent our Thanksgiving this year at home. Just us and a small roasted turkey, gravy, yams, green beans, cranberry sauce, stuffing and a pumpkin pie. We enjoyed the leftovers for three days. It was a nice relaxing family time.  Eli played a thanksgiving hymn on the piano, we sang, danced and just enjoyed each other. What a blessing!  Good helpers ready to cook a big dinner! Here is what they do best... Mashing yams with butter   Thanksgiving craft  First day of skiing on Mount Baker - 70'' of snow! We had a lot of fun. Eli did great he skipped a bunny hill and went on a beginner's chair. It was too cold for Sofia to stay outside for long so we just pulled her in a sled for a little bit and then cheered Eli from a warm car. We took turns wi

This fall I did my annual  Antique and Craft Show here in Lynden. It's always fun to meet new people and sell my herbal handmades. I added a few products to my line this year and started to sell dried herbs as well.It went very well for me this year and I got a lot of new customers! Praise the Lord! Tim took two days off so that I could enjoy my time there and not worry about cooking and cleaning. He did so great and I was so thankful!

Summer Fun Part 4

After 4 days on the road we finally made it to Bozeman to see Tim's family. We visited Lewis and Clark's Caverns, Yellostone National Park, got some fishing and horse riding done. What a great trip!  We had such a great time with mom and dad. It was hard to say goodbye! We cannot wait to see them again! Hopefully next year we will be able to make it back home to the Czech Republic.
