Garlic, Tomatos and a Visit from my Brother!

Just when we were ready to harvest our garlic and tomatos, my youngest brother Franta showed up with his friend at our door! We had so much fun! They stayed with us just for a couple of days and then they drove down south. AMERICA!!! Nourished at Burger Kings (which they called King Burger) they explored the beauty of the Oregon Coast and drove all the way down to the Redwood National Park and back north to meet us at Kettle Falls where we camped together. From there we drove to Glacier National Park and camped a night with bears. It was cold and rainy. We did a little hike and headed to Bozeman, MT to spent some time with Tim's family. The boys went to Yellowstone for a couple of days and then we all met back in Lynden. They drove 3800 miles. They had fun. Here are some moments from our trip.

Om HWY 20 hading East to Montana. Our first stop at Cascadian Blueberry Farm stand for some healthy lunch - chocolate ice cream! By the way they have the best blueberries ever! (I grew up picking wild blueberries in woods and these tasted very similar!)

Ross Lake Area. Just plain beautiful. One of our next year camping destination! The kiddos loved the car seat break.

Our first camping on the way at Marcus Island campground near Kettle Falls. We found it at 10 pm at night. Praise the Lord! Not much of a view but no mosquitos!

Getting closer to Glacier National Park, MT. The weather is looking JUST FINE!

Glacier National Park Montana. Awesome even on a rainy and cold day!;-) I slept with kiddos in a car. It was around 32 degrees at night. Brrrr. Only Tim slept with a revolver (remember we were in a BEAR country) in a tent. Not much of a sleep but HEY we are camping!;-)

A little hike to see Mary's Falls.

  1. Awesome pictures Petra. What a fun trip with the exception of chilly weather and bears. Remember the last time you lost sleep worrying about bears, (the summer you were with us) at Paul's cabin. The kids are growing up so fast. We spent a month in Greece and Israel and 24 hours visiting "Petra" in Jordan (thought of you) and then 24 hours in Egypt. Such an inspirational trip. Good to see your pics an catch up on you again. Love You, Glenda
