The Clark Family Fun

Tim's parents, Abby and Sarah came to visit last week in August.  It was a nice relaxing week with lots of fun, some beach and pool time, water park and we did a few tourist things as well. It was the last battleship ever built, and after only 11 years in service it was considered obsolete and mothballed in 1955. Here are a few pics of our growing garden. The white stuff on cherry tomatoes are drawstring organza bags which protect the fruit from fruit flies. We have learned so much about bugs here! Summer has been challenging but I can honestly say that we won the war on bugs. Even without chemical control. We found neem oil to be very effective against white cabbage butterflies as well as  old bug picking off the leaves and "night hunt" for slugs with a jug of salt - something the kiddos really like to do.  Gardening is fun, a lot of work, but so much fun and so rewarding! So bear with me! A few pick of harvest food bellow! yukon gold potatoes in the very back, green and purple beans, kale, eggplant and tomatoes preparing a rock bed for yams and local purple sweet potatoes the other side of our garden, lots of tomatoes, sunflowers and kabocha squash patch harvesting beans monkeys under banana patch we found this set off craigslist kids love it! ...

Eli turned 8 in June and we had a little celebration at home with a cake. We really missed having a party with our dear friends this year! Eli got a new mountain bike and tried it out the same day with his dad on a local mountain trail! They had fun! We also took him to PODIUM RACEWAY HAWAI'I for a few go-kart racing! He had fun and so did Tim and Fanda judging by the serious kid-like grin on their faces! We got to stand right next to the track and cheered on!  Happy Birthday, son!!! V červnu jsme oslavili Elijáškovi OSMÉ narozeniny! Udělala jsem nepečený tvarohový dort s jahodama a banánama. Dostal nové horské kolo, které hned vyzkoušel na projížďce s Timem. Odpoledne jsme ho vzali na motokáry. Moc se mu to líbilo a i Fanda s Timem si zazávodili. No bake cheesecake with strawberries and bananas! It's August and this post pictures are from May while Fanda was still here! We did a few hikes and here are the ones we enjoyed the most! It is always hard to narrow them down so be ready for a picture marathon!  Kaunala hike- 6 mile loop Kaunala (the plaiting) is a pleasant valley - ridge combination above Pupukea (white shell) along the north shore of Oahu. The trail section contours in and out of lush gulches through mostly introduced forest.  Tyto fotografie jsou ještě z května, kdy u nás byl Fanda.  Tady jsme na 10ti kilometrové túře na severní straně ostrova Oahu.  Both kids are great hikers! They like to learn about trees, birds and plants along the way. We saw some sandalwood trees, koa and ohi'a trees along this hike. Early Hawaiians made surfboards and outrigger canoe hulls out of the koa wood which is beautiful red-brown wood. Today it is made into fine furniture.  Quite expensive I should say.  Děti jsou zdat...
